History: He was born on a small isolated farm. He took every job he could get his hands on, but the opportunities for Humans in the west were limited. Since then, he has sought to make the best of life.

Motivation: Retire the richest man in the west; and he is terrified, and will act out of fear

Personality: He hates brigands. He views them as having robbed his home of its proper glory. He moves from fascination to fascination almost instantaneously. If something can keep his interest for a month it is impressive.

History: Gilbert lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. Being born in the west, he completed his medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the west for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way north. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.
