History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. His father had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the north. When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Fortune-teller hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. Some 9 years later his spouse died after the birth of his son. Heartbroken, John never married again. Instead he focused his life to raising his son whom he trained as his mother had trained him before.

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Fortune-teller and was forced into it by his family; and find a way to reverse the transformation of his brother
