History: Born to a pair of adventurers, Aldous grew up listening to his mother's many stories. He was part of a huge silver rush, which was taken over by a mining company. The company confiscated a lot of silver, but the shipment was lost. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: He was born in the north, but his parents moved at a very young age to the west. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered writing. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

History: Everard was born in the west. At a young age he loved to build and create. In his 11th year, his parents were killed by a giants raid, leaving Everard alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. When his spouse passed he lost his only source of income but claims to his sons to still be retired.

Motivation: He is compelled to act according to his religious beliefs; and his religion dominates his actions

History: He comes from a rich eastern family. His father had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

Motivation: He wants revenge against dire rats; and revenge

Personality: He misses his glory days as an athlete. He does not mind his job, but it is boring in comparison. He has a minor phobia of water and hates getting wet.

History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. When he came of age, he joined a caravan that would eventually take him to the capital. He would practice along the way and, when he arrived, be apprenticed to a Bellfounder. He tends to his Bellfounder job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations he has.

Motivation: Someone believes him a fraud; and wants to work out more often
