He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to gnolls demanding more tribute than usual.

Perhaps he's slightly insane, or otherwise so mentally alien to the rest of the world that he plain doesn't fit in. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Gunter was raised in a hard working conservative environment. From there he went from mercenary job to mercenary job. He's also a talented Animal Trainer, but doesn't like to broadcast it.

Motivation: He'd like to take his coworkers down a peg; and he desires power and/or immortality

He has gone from town to town working and never settling down anywhere, but has fallen for a local Weaver. He hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.
