Personality: He is enamored with his job. He loves it. He likes the challenge and he likes helping those less fortunate than him. The war was a terrible time for him, and Bertram does not often speak of it. When he does, he does so with a strained expression and tears in his eyes.

History: Bertram lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. His first spouse was a Shoemaker, they had one daughter, but his spouse won total custody. Without his spouse to temper him he grew out of control. He became a Bookbinder soon after.

Despite his manner, he is extremely passionate and proud of his job, and he prides himself in being thorough and never missing a detail.

History: He was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. In his formative years he discovered how persuasive he was. He began using that to his advantage selling useless wares at inflated prices. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

He advanced relatively quickly due to his good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. He has drifted from career to career and currently works as a Cartwright.

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Cartwright and was forced into it by his family; and balancing his hectic life and new cartwright responsibilities is difficult
