Because his mother participated in the massacre of their homeland, brigands burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. He was preparing to flee to the east, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his father from journeying east to reunite his family. He left for the east, certain he would find work there.

History: Born to a poor family in the city he treasured whatever gifts he got. Through the years after Geoffrey was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Geoffrey's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
