History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when brigands swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. His father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his father was legitimate. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.

History: He comes from a rich eastern family. Since his father passed away years ago, his mother had doted on him, and he came to think her himself as special and better than other people in town. A notion that was reinforced by his attractiveness, a trait in which he easily excels the other men of his town. Unlike his family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, he wanted to work in the city. He has been working here for the past few years.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by goblins, and he desires to right it; and someone believes him a fraud
