History: He was born into a rich family. Because his father participated in the massacre of their homeland, giants burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. He was preparing to flee to the west, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his mother from journeying west to reunite his family. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by giants, and he desires to right it.

History: Randal was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Ranger, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Ranger in service of a powerful lord somewhere. He took every job he could get his hands on, but the opportunities for Humans in the north were limited. He left for the north, certain he would find work there.
