He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. When his spouse passed he lost his only source of income but claims to his sons to still be retired.

Through the years after Don was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Don's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. By chance he met his sister recently and the two have been together since.
