History: His parents moved while he was still in utero so he is the first generation to be born here. He took after his father in leading caravans. Because they were valued, his father taught him to defend himself. When his father died while fighting illithids, the young Bertram began to lead the lost caravan. He left for the north, certain he would find work there.

Motivation: He wants revenge against illithids; and several ex partners dislike his way of doing things and want revenge

History: Born in the west to a Servant, Balimaar learned a great deal about his mother's area of expertise. When he came of age, he joined a caravan that would eventually take him to the capital. He would practice along the way and, when he arrived, be apprenticed to a Servant. He has drifted apart from his friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature pickaxe.

Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

Motivation: His spouse's relatives view him with great suspicion; and his relatives are trying to arrange a marriage
