History: Born in the north his family was never financially stable. In his 12th year, while out on a day-trip, he returned to find his hometown burning and destroyed. He found his father impaled in their home, and his mother beheaded. He saw the man who walked out, and charged him in a blind rage. The man easily evaded and defeated him, leaving him to live broken and terrified. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: A child with a great deal of writing talent his parents made sure he got the chance to thrive. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He hopes to save up enough money to one day pay a cleric to cure him.

History: A powerful wizard made him what he is. He found a children's book about a Human Paladin who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. History: His parents moved while he was still in utero so he is the first generation to be born here. In his 14th year, his parents were killed by a gnolls raid, leaving Charles alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to gnolls demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: Wants his loneliness to end; and a deep hatred of gnolls
