He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: He was born a particularly ugly child, much to the horror of his parents. His father was a soldier and died while he was still young. Roland was left his father's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. Since then, he has sought to make the best of life.

Motivation: He has a rivalry with the Church that dominates his actions; and obtaining odd cultural human artifacts is his passion

He began using that to his advantage selling useless wares at inflated prices. When his spouse passed he lost his only source of income but claims to his daughters to still be retired.
