History: Roland lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: The child of northern immigrants he idolized his father. His spouse left him for another, whom he beat to an almost bloody pulp. He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
