He modeled his life after the story, seeing himself destined a hero. He has became unsatisfied with his lot in life, and decided to take up adventuring.

When his father died while fighting drow, the young Miles began to lead the lost caravan. He has been a successful dealer in antiques buying low and selling high.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by drow, and he desires to right it; and retire the richest man in the east
