History: He comes from a rich western family. He inherited a moderately successful company from his father. Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. He has made many enemies by not giving into corruption and outing many instances of it.

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when illithids swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

Through the years after Nicholas was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Nicholas's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. Now he works as a dancing tutor during his time off.
