In his 14th year, his parents were killed by a gnolls raid, leaving Gilbert alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to gnolls demanding more tribute than usual.

History: A powerful slaver made him what he is. When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Cook hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: He feels the way he acts is they only way to get by in the world; and wants his loneliness to end

Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Masseuse they were divorced and he won custody of their son. He worked as a Farmer, and he later adopted a second son.
