Upon awakening, Kody discovered the rest of his party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Kody fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing his own horrible transformation.

History: Ernest hails from a village terrorized by dire rats. He graduated from the Naval Academy and went to see the world at the rank of Ensign. He advanced relatively quickly due to his good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

Through the years after Theodoric was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Theodoric's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
