The illithids captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. He has been saving his money to try and buy his sister's freedom.

Motivation: An old rival family wants him found; and doesn't want to be a servant and was forced into it by his family
