History: Bertram was born to in a poor docking district. He spent his early days working in the same smith shop his father was employed at, doing general labor. He made a point of taking high paying jobs and getting most of it up front. He has set out to sabotage the competition.

History: He was raised happily, as a normal child born to his mother and father. His father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his father was legitimate. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: Born to a poor family in the city he treasured whatever gifts he got. There was a wharf not far from home where he often wandered off to fish. He has never given up on his writing dream.

History: Gunter lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. His parents were killed by illithids in a raid when he was still a young child. The illithids captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Motivation: Wants to raise his children well; and someone believes him a fraud
