His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm mother. He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.

Motivation: He made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it; and to clean up the streets

History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. His childhood dream was to be a Bellfounder, but he was a colossal failure. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by goblins. Robert was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the goblins.

Motivation: He wants nothing more than to rejoin the army; and several ex partners dislike his way of doing things and want revenge

Personality: He has a massive crush on the younger sibling of the Sage who has hired him part-time. He claims to be unscrupulous but at the end of the day he will do what he thinks is right.

History: Hugh lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. His father disappeared, and while he tried to raise money to find his father, he was betrayed dozens of times. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Aristocrat in service of a powerful lord somewhere. He was a friend to animals and a trickster. In his defense of animals however he would do severe harm to people. Lacking all sense, he decided to go on an adventure.
