History: Alex was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Ranger, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Ranger in service of a powerful lord somewhere. He was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. He never won. He is searching for what he claims is his rightful reward.

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. Through the years after John was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. John's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. After a long history of fighting, John and his spouse have recently divorced.
