He found his mother impaled in their home, and his father beheaded. He saw the man who walked out, and charged him in a blind rage. The man easily evaded and defeated him, leaving him to live broken and terrified. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

History: He was born in the west. Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Humans in Adam's homeland. Adam decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. He left for the west, certain he would find work there.
