History: Born to a Dyer, his father struggled to pay the bills. His parents divorced when he was young, and his father gained full cudstody. He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by drow. John was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the drow.

Motivation: Revenge; and a deep hatred of drow

History: Trained by his mother for as long as he can remember he had it drilled in his head that it was his duty to serve his country. His father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his father was legitimate. He now mingles about in high society.

Motivation: He wants nothing more than to rejoin the army; and he is compelled to act according to his religious beliefs

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when dire rats swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. His druidic abilities were realized during a raid on his village. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: Someone believes him a fraud; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and he desires to right it
