It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. As a young adult he joined a group advocating for an improvement in Human conditions. Some 3 years later his spouse died after the birth of his son. Heartbroken, Roland never married again. Instead he focused his life to raising his son whom he trained as his mother had trained him before.

His moppish white hair is in a traditional bowl cut. His hazel unseeing eyes seem to look past you.

Personality: Quiet and reserved he prefers to listen than to talk. He will nod occasionally and communicate nonverbally. He uses divination through singing.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious eastern family, he was no stranger to responsibility. Brilliant and gifted he never wanted to apply himself. He hopes to save up enough money to one day pay a cleric to cure him.
