Personality: Gilbert is depressed about a lot of things. He tends to be a nihilist. He is motivated by money and will often try and persuade people to work for cheap. He haggles over everything, upselling his goods and buying cheap. He is persistent in everything.

History: Gilbert was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Sorcerer, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Sorcerer in service of a powerful lord somewhere. He was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. He never won. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

History: He got into the Merchant business at a young age. Like his mother and his sister before him, after school he went straight into learning to become a Merchant. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by illithids. Gerard was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the illithids.
