Description: A middle-aged man, he is wearing a long, grey cloak, and is pretty ugly. He has auburn hair. His eyes are likewise hazel.

Personality: He is not truly malevolent, but he is obsessed with writing. He constantly tries to fill his life with writing. His respect, as difficult as one would find it to earn, is unwavering; those who more than prove themselves to him, a bar set well above any reasonable standard, he tolerates in varying degrees. Though less modest and more hasty in his reactions to snap at those who irritate him, Arnold is combative with any and all who dare try his patience in the slightest.

History: He was born several months after his mother was called into army service. At a young age his mother died while driving off some dire rats. His father being the stubborn sort decided to stay and helped train him in mace use. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: Many dire rats want him driven away; and revenge
