History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. A serious injury left his mother unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm mother. During his travels, Nicholas and his party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Nicholas discovered the rest of his party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves.
