Because his father participated in the massacre of their homeland, dire rats burned their ranch to the ground and forced them out. He was preparing to flee to the south, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his mother from journeying south to reunite his family. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by dire rats. Reynard was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the dire rats.

Personality: He likes to brag about his accomplishments and constantly tries to beat others to the punch. His respect, as difficult as one would find it to earn, is unwavering; those who more than prove themselves to him, a bar set well above any reasonable standard, he tolerates in varying degrees. Though less modest and more hasty in his reactions to snap at those who irritate him, Ralf is combative with any and all who dare try his patience in the slightest.

History: Born in the south to a Carpenter, Gerard learned a great deal about his mother's area of expertise. In his 17th year, his parents were killed by a brigands raid, leaving Gerard alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He became a Carpenter soon after.
