Through the years after Thomas was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Thomas's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

History: When he was but 7 years old his parents immigrated from the north. He took after his mother in leading caravans. Because they were valued, his mother taught him to defend himself. When his mother died while fighting orcs, the young Gerald began to lead the lost caravan. He has made many enemies by not giving into corruption and outing many instances of it.
