It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: Born in the west his family was never financially stable. His first spouse was a Stableman, they had one son, but his spouse won total custody. Without his spouse to temper him he grew out of control. By chance he met his sister recently and the two have been together since.

Motivation: His relatives are trying to arrange a marriage.

Description: This fat western man has a bulbous nose and usually wears his black robe and has his crossbow always slung over his shoulder. His skin is also unnaturally pale. His long silver hair is drawn into a two foot long braid. His otherwise smooth face is marked with small tiny scars.

Personality: He likes to make people angry or surprised. He has a cruel streak; something he gained from his previous mentor. He harbors resentment against his former mentor.

History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. A serious injury left his mother unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm mother. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Motivation: He wants nothing more than to rejoin the army; and he made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it

History: Born to a pair of adventurers, Geoffrey grew up listening to his mother's many stories. Geoffrey abandoned his home at a very young age, living in the fields and plains. He survived everyday through hunting and stealing from passersby. He did whatever it took for him to survive. He became a plane-shifter, and is stopping over on this plane for a brief visit.
