He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. He's also a talented Courier, but doesn't like to broadcast it.

Motivation: Balancing his hectic life and new Tanner responsibilities is difficult; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by giants, and he desires to right it

He hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.

Motivation: He wants revenge against orcs; and to end his boredom
