When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Shoemaker hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He left for the north, certain he would find work there.

History: Hugh was born the youngest of three triplets. He helped his father out around the business and became quite the natural. He has gone from town to town working and never settling down anywhere, but has fallen for a local Masseuse. He hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.
