History: Heward hails from a village terrorized by illithids. In his 11th year, his parents were killed by a illithids raid, leaving Heward alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to illithids demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: Several ex partners dislike his way of doing things and want revenge; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and he desires to right it
