History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his mother always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. He worked as a nervous Sage and found it very stressful. He struck the Sage job and began his own company from there.

Motivation: He's repulsed by the PC; and balancing his hectic life and new sage responsibilities is difficult

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when illithids swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.
