History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. Shane was born on a far eastern island where he grew up under the tutelage of his mother, an expert Navigator. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.

Personality: Aggressive, abrasive, and angry, Bertram embodies much of what other species detest in the Humans. He cannot resist a sob story and will often dote over anyone who has one.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. His mother was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his mother was legitimate. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
