He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. Some 7 years later his spouse died after the birth of his daughter. Heartbroken, Thomas never married again. Instead he focused his life to raising his daughter whom he trained as his father had trained him before.

Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by brigands. Balimaar was horrified and prayed that his father was alright.
