History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Gilbert was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He was an apprentice working in his father's forge. He has achieved small success as a Shoemaker.

Motivation: Balancing his hectic life and new Shoemaker responsibilities is difficult; and to be a gardener again
