Because they were valued, his father taught him to defend himself. When his father died while fighting dire rats, the young Uthûg began to lead the lost caravan. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: His parents moved while he was still in utero so he is the first generation to be born here. From there he went from mercenary job to mercenary job. He became a plane-shifter, and is stopping over on this plane for a brief visit.

History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered writing. He hopes to save up enough money to one day pay a cleric to cure him.

History: He was born to a pair of big game hunters, but was frequently ill as a child. He inherited a moderately successful company from his father. Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. He was an adventurer many years ago and he formed a blood bond with his Human companion (his 'brother'). He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.

Motivation: He feels the way he acts is they only way to get by in the world; and to protect his home
