He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

Oloric decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.

History: He was born on a small isolated farm. He was a friend to animals and a trickster. In his defense of animals however he would do severe harm to people. Lacking all sense, he decided to go on an adventure. He picked a direction and started trekking.
