History: He was born into a rich family. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He has been helping groups of widows and orphans who have fled abusive spouses or lost their families to orcs.

His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. He has dedicated himself to building a better world.

Motivation: He feels that his past leaves him morally obligated to help.

Personality: Friendly and accommodating he would invite many more into his home than his spouse would be comfortable with if they did not express concern about it. He also is a firm believer in the manly ideal.

History: He was born several months after his mother was called into army service. Being born in the west, he completed his medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the west for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way south. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Marshal they were divorced and he won custody of their son. He worked as a Map Maker, and he later adopted a second son.

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Map Maker and was forced into it by his family.
