He was preparing to flee to the south, but the outbreak of war prevented him and his father from journeying south to reunite his family. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by drow. Bertram was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the drow.

Personality: He is unhospitable to his core. His small house has "No trespassing" Signs all over it. He does suffer from mild PTSD, and the sight of illithids may trigger it at times.

History: Trained by his mother for as long as he can remember he had it drilled in his head that it was his duty to serve his country. A freak accident while working with his Blacksmith mother left him crippled. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
