His mother taught him the rudiments of the Barkeep arts, while his father instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. He sought a place where he would be rewarded solely on the merits of his skills. This search led him directly into Barkeep work with an outfit from a few towns over. Barkeep work suited him well, and with each successful project, he earned more gold and more respect from his peers. He then took over the family business and is one of the better Barkeep for hire.

Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by illithids. Jabbie was horrified and prayed that his father was alright. However, he heard that his father had died fighting off the illithids.

History: Kelter was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Ranger, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Ranger in service of a powerful lord somewhere. He found a children's book about a Halfling Ranger who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. He modeled his life after the story, seeing himself destined a hero.
