Motivation: A need for knowledge about a nearby landmark; and he desires power and/or immortality

History: He was born in the north. In his 16th year, his parents were killed by a gnolls raid, leaving Az-Bror alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.
