Motivation: He is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and he desires to right it

Personality: Deceptive and manipulative this eastern guy figured out how to best use his charms to convince people to do what he wants. He refers to his adoptive mother for almost all things he is unsure about, which are numerous. He is very much still a child and has not developed a drive for self-dependency.

History: Howard lived on a farm with his mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Halflings in Howard's homeland. Howard decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. Recently a tribe of giants attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls.
