However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the giants.

Personality: He resents people who mock his appearance or him, so he has learned to be the meanest son of a gun. He does suffer from mild PTSD, and the sight of dire rats may trigger it at times.

History: When he was but 7 years old his parents immigrated from the north. His parents were killed by dire rats in a raid when he was still a young child. The dire rats captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance.
