History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when illithids swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. He was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. He never won. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by illithids. Emerald was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the illithids.

His mother taught him the rudiments of the Priest arts, while his father instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. His parents divorced when he was young, and his mother gained full cudstody. He was regularly beaten by his mother, who blamed him for driving them apart. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.
