History: The child of southern immigrants he idolized his father. A serious injury left his father unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. He spent several years traveling with his friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.

Motivation: To share knowledge with the world; and a rival would like him out of the picture

He lives in a bit of an ivory tower believing all problems are one quick intervention away from being solved.

History: Born in a small village he learned the ways of the warrior from his mother. He inherited a moderately successful company from his mother. Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Motivation: Wants to have a good time and be beloved; and to fight the greatest warriors and to fight in the greatest battles ever

Perhaps he's slightly insane, or otherwise so mentally alien to the rest of the world that he plain doesn't fit in. He got away from his former life and has fallen to alcoholism.
