His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.

History: Born in a small village he learned the ways of the warrior from his mother. Through the years after Snafû was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Snafû's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Farmer they were divorced and he won custody of their son. He worked as a Mason, and he later adopted a second son.
