History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. Ostracized due to the martial powers of his oldest brother, he and his siblings struck out on their own. In the process these unassuming Gnomes became a terror of the countryside. Since then, he has sought to make the best of life.

History: Born in the west to a Guard, Gilbert learned a great deal about his mother's area of expertise. At a young age both his parents were killed in an accident. His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. He has achieved small success as a Guard.

Motivation: A rival would like him out of the picture.
