The mother sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. He saw this and took pride in his mother's willingness to do anything to win. He tends to his Blacksmith job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations he has.

Motivation: He possesses a valuable artifact that the thieves guild wishes to steal; and he is unsatisfied with his job

Personality: He is business-like. He takes instructions and follows them to the letter. He is however greedy and will demand payment and proof of collateral's value and will produce a merchant's scale to make sure he is not cheated out of a speck.

History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the north. When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Shepherd hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He has gone from town to town working and never settling down anywhere, but has fallen for a local Butcher. He hasn't told them the truth, but wants to settle down with them.
